I have lost another pound. Yeah me! I have finally purchased a Wii Fit and my whole family has had a blast. Cleaning Jon's parents house also gives me quite a workout. I look foreward to the day that I can tell I have lost weight. I have decided not to join the gym. I have only used my two week pass once since they gave it to me and it expires on Thursday. I just don't think I would go enough to justify spending that amount of money.

Changing the subject, Did anyone know that there are 20 calories in one single little hard peppermint candy?!! I was shocked to say the least. I always have peppermint candies on me. I am a smoker, (yes, I know it's disgusting but right now I don't have the willpower to quit) so I have a fear of bad breath, and I always have them on me. I don't smoke in my car so I have peppermints. I have them when I am waiting for my daughter to get out of school, I have them when I am shopping, I have them all the time. I bet I eat about 150 calories a day from peppermint candies. I gues I will just have to get something like Binaca or gum.

Well it's getting late and I have a busy day tomorrow. I am going to bed.

I have lost weight. I now weigh 138 1/2 lbs. , six and a half pounds isn't bad. I was able to go to the gym once last week with a friend who has a membership to the gym I am thinking about joining. I thought it was really busy and we had to wait around to use any of the equipment. Once we did get to use something, we didn't know how to use it. I also wish we could have stayed longer. I still haven't decided if I'll join or not. I also got to try out the Wii Fit. I really enjoyed using it. My whole family had fun. Once I can find them in the stores around here I'm going to get one. I did hurt myself on one of the yoga moves, the palm tree, my calf is still sore and this happened on Saturday.

I have started cleaning Jon's parents house. I knew their house was big but, I didn't realize how big until I cleaned it the first time. I was sore the next day!

I have been eating alright most of the time but I seem to get off track on the weekends. Donuts for breakfast and pizza for dinner ! During the week I do great, salmon, chicken breast, brown rice, lots of veggies, if only I could do that seven days a week. I guess I will make that my goal this week. EAT HEALTHY ALL WEEK LONG. I'll get Jon to take my measurements tonight and post them tomorrow if my computer is working.

I reached a personal goal I had set for myself a couple of weeks ago. I really wanted to walk over 10,000 steps in one day. I walked on the treadmill for 90 minutes without stopping. I unfortunately didn't use my good common sense and walked barefoot. Pretty stupid huh? I still have blisters on the bottom of my feet, but I reached my goal. I could have kept on walking but it was late and I needed to go to bed. I wasn't sore the next day, which surprised me.

Last night on the news, one of the stories was about a "diet" called The Step Diet. All you do is walk. You can start off slow and then increase your steps by 500 everyday. You can walk 500 steps in 5 minutes. I've done it and it isn't that hard. I read somewhere that to lose weight you should walk 100 steps a minute. Hopefully I can do this consistently. The other part of the diet is to eat 25% less of whatever your eating. So I guess if your eating a sandwich at lunch you would only eat 3/4ths of it.Jon's mom gave me a treadmill two weeks ago. I really like it. It is so much easier than walking in place. Here's my treadmill:

I was suppose to start cleaning Diane's house today but the weather is terrible. One day it's almost 80 degrees and the next day it's in the 20's with freezing rain. I don't drive when it's icy. Maybe I'll get to do it Thursday or Friday.

I'm also thinking about joining a gym. There is a very nice one right up the road from my house with everything you can imagine including a heated Olympic size pool. It's pretty pricey, so I am going to have to budget for it.

Things are going good right now, my car is fixed, the heater in our house was fixed yesterday, the fence in the backyard has been fixed. The kids are feeling better and I am doing alright with my weight loss.

There is a stomach virus going around my house. Lucky me! For me personally, the worst "Motherly duty" is cleaning up vomit.

Last week was a rough one. My grandma went into the hospital by ambulance. While she was at work, She started having chest pains, the school nurse called 911. My grandma is one tough old lady. She is 70 years old, works full time, takes care of her son who has Parkinson's, blood clots in his lungs, and mental problems. She raised 2 of her 4 grandchildren (my uncles kids) from babies, She lost her daughter (my mother) and her only living sibling within 4 days of each other in 1997, She took care of my great grandmother after she had a stroke 2 months after we buried my mother while working 2 jobs. Her husband had a stroke a few years ago and even though he can walk, he can't walk for very long and since he has no mobility in his right arm he can't push a wheelchair by himself, he came and picked me up so I could ride with him to see my grandma. I really think if it wasn't for the fact that I had to help Jerry get up to her room to see her, nobody would have told me she was even in the hospital. The doctors ran a few tests and the consensus was she has anxiety.

My car also went belly up last week. We think it's the starter, hopefully it will get fixed this weekend.

I am also having computer problems, It seems like I have never had much luck with computers. Brand new or used, I just have bad luck with them. I think my next computer will be a laptop.

On a happier note, I have lost 3 lbs. It's not week one on the Biggest Loser weight loss, but I'm happy with it. Hopefully slow and steady does really win the race. My measurements have also changed.

BUST:41 1/2 inches
CHEST: 33 1/2 in.
WAIST: 33 in.
HIPS: 38 in.
THIGHS: 24 in.
KNEES: 14 1/2 in.
CALVES: 14 in.
UPPER ARMS: 12 in.
FOREARMS: 10 in.

I have been walking everyday. It has mostly been walking indoors to my Weight Watcher's walking DVD. The most steps I have walked was 6849. I just can't seems to even get close to 10,000 steps in one day. I haven't had coffee in about 3 weeks and it's been 4 days since I've had a Dr. Pepper. I had a can of D.P. at the hospital on Friday. I am eating healthy, lots of fruits, vegetables, fish and chicken stir fried in my new wok that I absolutely LOVE. That's what I bought with my birthday gift card that my "mom" in-law gave me. Thank you Diane!

A Little Healthy Competitiveness Between Sisters

My younger sister (right) and me.

My sister left yesterday after being here for 13 day's. We had a good time while she was here but didn't really do anything except cook a lot and eat even more. Surprise, both of us gained weight while she was here.

Before she arrived, we discussed what we could cook and had even planned to exercise everyday while she was here. Needless to say all that went out the window from the start. We ate fattening foods, ate a lot of them, ate late at night and only managed to go walking one time!

Now she's back in North Carolina, and instead of going back to our ho hum routines, we've decided to challenge each other. Our own little version of the Biggest Loser. We have different approches to our weight loss, for instance, I will walk, Jennifer will go to Curves. Whatever method we choose, I really hope we are able to motivate each other.

Best of Luck Jennifer!

About Me

My photo
I am a mother of two, my son, Skylar is 13 and my daughter, Shelby, is 6. I have been married to my husband Jon for almost 14 years. I am the "family historian" for both my husband's and my side of the family. I love to take photographs, read, write (even though I'm not very good at it) make jewelry, Blue Bell ice cream, painted toenails, reality t.v., true crime, Spring and Fall, clean sheets, fluffy pillows (I sleep with at least 3), the way it smells after a rain, my husband telling me I'm beautiful everyday, sleeping late, my kids getting along, a good uncontrollable laugh, making someone else laugh uncontrollably, a good cry, Dr. Pepper, and being around people who make me happy.
